Jungwon is a unique guy in the K-pop world because of his lovely attitude, dimpled smile, and distinctive voice. His years of discipline and responsibility have made him a strong leader, and he is now the backbone of ENHYPEN.

Education:

Jungwon's schoolwork shows how hard he works to balance his love of music with his schoolwork. He was born and reared in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, South Korea, where he went to Seoul Sinseong Elementary School and Sillim Middle School. Jungwon was a natural leader in school. He was class president for five years in a row and then vice president in sixth grade. His students called him "100% pure milk" because he was sweet, soft-spoken, and always laughed with pals.
Jungwon first went to Namgang High School for high school, but subsequently moved to Hanlim Multi Art School, a well-known school that trains those who want to be performers. He graduated from Hanlim's Department of Applied Music, where he learned how to sing and perform better. He was able to improve his artistic skills at Hanlim and get ready for a career in the very competitive K-pop industry.

Background:

Jungwon was born on February 9, 2004, in Gwanak-gu, Seoul. He lived in Yeongdeungpo-gu for the first few years of his life until transferring to Gwanak-gu. Jungwon's parents were very busy with work, so his grandma raised him. This taught him to be responsible and independent from a young age. He was interested in music from a young age and worked hard to get into it, which finally led him to K-pop.
Before joining ENHYPEN, Jungwon worked for a number of well-known entertainment companies. He started his training at SM Entertainment in 2017 and worked on his skills for a year. He then went to RBW in 2018 and then joined Big Hit Entertainment (now HYBE) in 2018. A buddy who was also a Big Hit trainee showed Jungwon's pictures to the casting personnel at the agency by chance, which led to an invitation to audition. Jungwon passed the audition and prepared for around a year and four months before taking part in the survival show I-LAND.
Jungwon also has a long history of being an athlete. He practiced Taekwondo for seven years, four of which he competed as an athlete and earned a black belt. This discipline probably helped him develop a strong work ethic and the capacity to withstand the physical demands of K-pop dance.

Career:

Pre-Debut: I-LAND and Training:

Jungwon's rise to fame started with I-LAND, a 2020 survival reality show made by CJ ENM and Big Hit Entertainment (now HYBE). The goal of the event was to create a new boy band under Belift Lab, which is part of HYBE. Jungwon was introduced as a participant on June 2, 2020. He rapidly stood out on the first episode when he sang Jay Park's "All I Wanna Do" with trainees Yoonwon and Taeyong. He got a score of 21/22 (95.5%).

Jungwon showed off his singing, dancing, and leadership skills across I-LAND. He was almost sent out at one point, but fellow participant K utilized a dropout exemption card to save him. He won the finale on September 18, 2020, with 1,417,620 votes from around the world. His persistent excellence and charm made him the leader and a member of ENHYPEN.

Debut with ENHYPEN:

ENHYPEN made their first appearance on November 30, 2020, with their mini-album Border: Day One. The group has seven members: Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-ki. The album, which included the hit song "Given-Taken," did well on the charts, reaching number two on both the Gaon Album Chart and the Japanese Oricon Albums Chart. Jungwon's job as the leader, main singer, and lead dancer was very important to the group's dynamic performances.
ENHYPEN has put out a number of successful ventures since they first came out, such as:
Border: Carnival (March 2021)
Dimension: Dilemma (October 2021), which sold more than 910,000 copies in its first week
Manifesto: Day 1 (2022), the start of their first world tour; Dark Blood (2023), which reached the top of the iTunes Album Charts in 30 countries
Romance: Untold (2024), which includes Jungwon's part in the top line of "Hundred Broken Hearts"
Desire: Unleash (coming out on June 5, 2025)
ENHYPEN has won many awards, including the Rookie Artist Award at the 35th Golden Disc Awards (2021) and the New Artist of the Year – Physical award in 2021. The group's first world tour, Manifesto (2022), included 21 shows. They played at Coachella 2025 on April 12 and 19, which was Jungwon's ambition since he was a child.

Leadership and Other Ventures:

After a 40-day selection procedure that included interviews and exams, Jungwon's leadership was set in stone. He was picked over fellow member Heeseung. Fans and peers have praised him for being able to bring the group together, express their ideas, and stay diplomatic.
Jungwon has done things other than music. He and Sunoo became radio DJs for EBS's Listen in 2022. The show airs every Sunday from 7 to 9 PM KST. He has also been a special MC for shows including Music Bank (2022) and M Countdown (2020). Jungwon was in the webtoon-based movie Dark Moon: The Blood Altar and has been on the covers of magazines, like Esquire Korea in March 2024.
His contributions to songwriting, like the topline for "Hundred Broken Hearts," indicate how much more powerful he is as a composer. Fans love Jungwon's fun personality, and he often interacts with them on social media. He even made the word "Lezzugo!" (Let's go!) popular among ENGENEs (ENHYPEN's fandom).

Not much is known about her personal life because Jungwon keeps his family life private, but he has said that they are very close and have similar eyes. Sunghoon, another member of ENHYPEN, says that their connection as siblings is normal, with a combination of love and fun protectiveness.
