Ella Anderson Left Piper Hart Behind. Song Sung Blue Showed What Comes Next (2026)

Plenty of Nickelodeon kids get one great role and then spend the next decade being asked about it. Ella Anderson has spent the last couple of years making that question less interesting. A Christmas Day release opposite Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson will do that.

She is 21 now, still best known to a generation as Piper Hart, the sharp-tongued younger sister on Henry Danger. But the shape of her career has changed. The roles are heavier, the company is older and more famous, and the next project on her slate is the kind actors use to announce they are done being anyone's kid sister.

A working actor at six

Anderson started acting at five and was booking professional jobs by six. Her parents, Hans and Rebecca, are not industry people, but they backed her early and the family eventually relocated to Los Angeles to make the career workable. She grew up with two older brothers, twins Gabriel and Julian, and her middle name, Aiko, points to the Japanese side of her family.

The early credits read like a tour of 2010s kids' television. There was the feature Touchback in 2011, then guest spots on Disney Channel staples including A.N.T. Farm, Dog with a Blog and Liv and Maddie. Useful work. Not yet a calling card.

Six years as Piper

That arrived in 2014. Henry Danger ran until 2020, and Piper was the show's secret weapon: a loud, impatient, very funny foil who often got the best line in a scene built around someone else. Child comedy roles are harder than they look. Timing has to be instinctive, and Anderson had it from the start.

The risk with a part like that is permanence. Piper was so specific that she could easily have become the only thing casting directors saw. That she didn't is the most impressive part of the story so far.

Films that pointed somewhere else

Even while the show was running, Anderson was picking up film work that hinted at range. In The Boss (2016) she played Rachel Rawlings opposite Melissa McCarthy. A year later she played the younger version of Brie Larson's character in The Glass Castle, a drama about a chaotic, painful childhood that asked for something very different from sitcom energy.

After Henry Danger wrapped, the steady stream continued with Suncoast in 2024. Then, in January 2025, she stepped back into Piper's shoes for Henry Danger: The Movie. It was a fond reunion for fans, and a reminder of where she came from, just before the move that changed how people talk about her.

Song Sung Blue changed the conversation

Song Sung Blue, released on Christmas Day 2025, is a musical drama based on the true story of a Neil Diamond tribute act. Anderson plays Rachel, the daughter of Kate Hudson's character, with Hugh Jackman leading the film. It closed the AFI Film Festival in 2025 and drew real awards season attention.

She has not won a major award, and it would be dishonest to pretend otherwise. But being cast in a prestige studio musical, and holding the screen next to two stars of that size, is the kind of credit that moves an actor onto different shortlists. It also suits her. Music has been part of her identity for years, which brings us to the other side of the résumé.

Songs, shoots and a side business

Anderson used her YouTube channel for vlogs before turning it into an outlet for original music. Her debut single, Overanalyze, came out in 2020, followed by the EP Evolving in 2021. Neither was a chart event, but both show someone treating singing as more than a hobby.

Modelling has grown alongside the acting. She has appeared in fashion editorials, including shoots for Numéro Netherlands and Who What Wear, and her Instagram following has passed 3 million. She has also attached her middle name to a beauty and skincare line, Aiko, giving her a business identity that doesn't depend on the next casting call.

What is she worth?

Nobody publishes Anderson's pay, and no official figure for her wealth exists. Icon Polls estimates her net worth at $3 million to $6 million in 2026. The range is wide on purpose.

The pieces are easy to name and hard to price: more than a decade of television and film work, including six seasons of a hit Nickelodeon series; a franchise film in 2025; a supporting role in a studio musical; brand partnerships and social media income; and whatever her own beauty venture brings in. Treat the number as an informed estimate, not a bank statement.

Private, by choice

Anderson has never publicly confirmed a relationship and doesn't share details of her love life online. Fans have speculated over the years, as fans do, but she keeps that part of her life private, and there is nothing verified to report. Given how much of her childhood played out on camera, that line seems entirely reasonable.

Why Jesus Land is the real test

Next up, Anderson is set to lead Jesus Land, an adaptation of Julia Scheeres's bestselling memoir about growing up in 1980s Indiana and surviving what came with it. It is dark, adult material, and she is the lead rather than the daughter or the sister.

That is the honest assessment: Song Sung Blue proved she belongs in serious rooms. Jesus Land will show whether she can carry one. If you think she already ranks among the screen's standouts, make the case and vote in our best actresses of all time poll.
