Twelve years in Leon
Fran started playing at five and spent the next 12 years at Cultural Leonesa, his hometown club in the northwest of Spain. That's a long time at one academy, and it matters. Sevilla announced the signing on August 2, 2026, their sixth arrival of the summer. The structure is the interesting part:
- Fee: about 3 million euros for 50 percent of his economic rights.
- Madrid's share: the other 50 percent stays with Real Madrid.
- Buy-back: Madrid can bring him back for between 3 million and 5 million euros, with the price depending on which of the next three transfer windows they use it in.
- Contract: runs until the summer of 2031.
For Sevilla, it's a cheap way to get a highly rated young keeper on a long deal. For Madrid, it's a low-risk bet: if he becomes a starter, they can reclaim him at a known price.
